Lucky to be alive: Driver survives 300ft plunge over Arizona cliff, climbs out 2 days later

An unidentified 22-year-old man is recovering from non life-threatening injuries after driving his car over a 300-foot cliff in Arizona.

The man reportedly waited two days in his car before climbing out of the gorge and hitching a ride to safety.

On Wednesday night the man was driving along a dangerous section of State Route 88 near Tortilla Flat.

He reportedly lost control near milepost 214 and drove off the edge of the cliff, flipping his car several times before it landed upside-down 300 feet below.

On Friday morning he gave up waiting for help and managed to hike two miles back up to the road.

He hitched a ride to the nearby Superstition Saloon, where the owner called for help.

The man was taken to a hospital in Mesa and is reportedly recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

His identity has not been released.

The same gorge claimed the life of a 20-year-old earlier this year.
