Soccer legend Pele in intensive care with urinary tract infection after kidney stone surgery

Brazilian soccer legend Pele remains in intensive care a week after he was hospitalized with a urinary tract infection, according to multiple reports.

Doctors at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo say the 74-year-old is not experiencing any signs of a fever but is receiving antibiotics intravenously. A statement from the hospital said that renal assistance for Pele has been suspended, but further tests will be conducted to see if he still requires it.

Pele was sent to hospital on November 24 after recently undergoing surgery to remove kidney stones. The surgery was also conducted at the Albert Einstein hospital.
