Crazy car crash sees BMW SUV go airborne, plunge through roof of southern California home

A California couple woke up with a bang early Wednesday morning, after an SUV crashed through the roof of their Escondido home.

Police believe the driver was travelling too fast around a curve on a road located 20 feet above George Strother’s home.

The driver lost control, sending the car through the roof of the Strother’s garage before he fled the scene.

According to an NBC San Diego report, the BMW SUV was a loaner vehicle from a nearby car dealership.

Investigators say the man who rented the car was found hiding nearby.

The man was arrested on an unrelated charge and maintains he was not driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.
