Breathalyzer test gone wrong: drunk driving woman chews grass in attempt to fool police
  • 9 years ago
When police in the southern Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung stopped a woman for drunk driving and speeding, the not so quick-thinking woman allegedly leaned down and ripped up a handful of grass, stuffing the bunch into her mouth.

The arresting officer couldn’t help but laugh at her strange behavior, especially when the woman insisted he wait for her to finish before asking her to puff into a breathalyzer.

After stalling for several minutes while she chewed like a cow with a mouthful of cud, the woman finally blew into the breathalyzer. And scores a 0.67, more than ten times the legal limit.

When the officer asked the woman what she thought chewing on the grass would accomplish she explained she thought the grassy scent on her breath would fool the machine.

The woman worked at a bar where she often drank until the butt crack of dawn with patrons before making her back home. She’d been stopped before for drunk driving, so she thought she knew the drill.

But where did she come up with this gem of an idea?
