The new State Route 99 tunnel in Seattle was hit by another accident Thursday afternoon, when five workers were sent into free fall after an elevator shaft collapsed.

The accident took place in the north portal area of the State Route 99 tunnel construction site in downtown Seattle. Five workers were working inside an elevator shaft when a rebar wall collapsed.

The workers fell about 25 feet. Four of them were wounded, but their injuries were not considered life threatening.

The new tunnel has already suffered a two-year delay. Washington Labor and Industries has launched an investigation into the elevator accident.
