Miracle baby: girl survives in freezing river 14 hours after mother crashes car

A baby girl was miraculously found alive inside a car partially submerged in a freezing Utah river, nearly 14 hours after the accident that tragically ended her mother's life.

Lynn Jennifer Groesbeck, 25, was driving from her parents home in Salem, Utah, back to Springville at around 10 p.m.

According to Spanish Fork Police, Groesbeck crashed her Dodge Caliber vehicle through the concrete embankment around 10:30pm. Her car plummeted downhill into the Spanish Fork River, flipping upside down into the river basin.

Roughly 14 hours later a fisherman spotted the vehicle and called emergency responders. Emergency responders broke into the vehicle to rescue the baby, but Groesbeck by then was dead.

The child was first taken to Mountain View Hospital and then flown to Primary Children's Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Spanish Fork police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
