A manhunt is underway in South Los Angeles after two police officers were injured in a shooting Sunday evening.

Two plainclothes LAPD officers were driving an unmarked vehicle near the intersection of LA's Broadway and West 65th Street Sunday evening. At around 5:45 p.m., two men opened fire on the officers from a distance. The police officers then returned fire. Both officers suffered minor injuries.

Dozens of SWAT deputies and police dogs are aiding in the search for the two suspects. Police officers have secured a perimeter from Gage Avenue to 67th Street and Broadway to Main Street as part of their ongoing manhunt.

At around 2:15 a.m. on Monday, a driver, possibly under the influence, drove into the perimeter and almost struck a police officer.

A number of people have been detained in connection with the shooting. Investigators suspect that the two officers may have been targeted.
