Tattoo discrimination: Texas man kicked out of Bombshells restaurant for 'gang-like' facial tattoos
  • 9 years ago
A Houston restaurant received a online backlash with hundreds of complaints on its Facebook page from upset customers for refusing to serve a patron with face tattoos earlier this month.

Erik Leighton, 27, says that he and a friend Chad Moss were escorted out of a Houston-area restaurant because the colorful tattoos on his face made the manager think he was gang affiliated.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Bombshells is known for waitresses in skimpy attire with an old-school pin-up feel, drawing comparisons to venues such as Twin Peaks or Hooters.

Leighton told TOMONews he and his buddy went down the street to Twin Peaks where he decided to complain on Bombshell's Facebook page. The 27-year-old did not expect his post would go viral. The negative attention forced the restaurant to send a formal apology via Facebook and now change their policy to accept people with with tattoos.

Leighton says the only difficulty he's ever had with his colorful appearance is getting into upscale bars.

Tomo news decided to treat Leighton to dinner, tattoo discrimination free!
