Mesa shooting spree: police capture suspect who killed 1, wounded 5 in Arizona

Police in Mesa, Arizona captured a suspect Wednesday afternoon who reportedly shot at least six people, wounding five and killing one.
Police say the shooting spree started at the Tri City Inn around 8:45 a.m. The shooter — who police described as a white male with tattoos on his face and neck — shot three people at the motel. Two women were injured, and one man died at the scene.
Police said there was an argument at the motel before the shooting.
The suspect then hijacked a car from outside of Bistro 13, across the street from the motel. An adult male student from the nearby East Valley Institute of Technology was wounded outside of the restaurant, but police said the student was not the owner of the vehicle.
Two additional shootings were reported at nearby apartment complexes. Police said the first of those involved a home invasion near 900 S. Dobson Rd.
The second apartment shooting occurred at 1800 W. Emelita Ave. The victim in that shooting was critically injured, according to Mesa Detective Esteban Flores.
"If you can stay indoors, just stay at home," Flores said during a press conference while the shooter was still at large.
Police captured a man around 12:45 p.m. near the corner of Dobson Road and 8th Avenue.
The police department did not immediately release the suspect's identity or a motive.
