Islamic State: Militants kidnap foreign medics in Libya, forcing them to treat their wounded

Thirty or more Islamic State militants abducted roughly 20 foreign medical staff from the Ibn Sina hospital in the coastal Libyan city of Sirte during an attack on the facility on March 16.

The hospital workers were taken while waiting for a bus to the capital, Tripoli, as
violence between fighters for the Islamist group, also known as ISIS, and Libyan soldiers continues to escalate. Officials believe the group of foreigners were kidnapped so that they would be able to treat wounded ISIS militants.

Officials said most of the workers are from the Philippines, with others coming from Ukraine, India and Serbia.
