BUDGIE with LEONARD ETO – 'Blendrums' Live (Paris, 04 April 2014)

Siouxsie and Budgie have always been big fans of Kodo Drummers and the first opportunity to work with one of them, Leonard Eto, was given to the duo in August 2002, when they were playing in Japan with SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES for their '7 Year Itch' tour. The result of an one day-long drumming improvisation between Budgie and Eto at 'GOK Sound studio' in Tokyo on 19 August 2002 was the album 'Hái!' by THE CREATURES released on 20 October 2003.
Since then, Budgie has collaborated with Leonard Eto in many occasions: for Siouxsie’s 'Dreamshow' in 2004, for 'The Butterfly Effect' show in Hong Kong in November 2010 and finally for the two live shows that JUNO REACTOR played in Japan during their 'Final Frontier Tour' on 3 & 4 August 2013 with Budgie as session drummer and Leonard Eto as guest musician on taiko drums.
The most recent collaboration between the two men was in 2014 when Eto invited Budgie to take part in his project titled 'Leonard Eto - Blendrums'. Budgie and Eto joined forces with tap dancer Roxane Butterfly for an exquisite audiovisual performance that premiered in Paris in April 2014.
The trio played two special shows at Maison de la culture du Japon, 111 bis Quai Branly on Friday 4 April (8:30pm) and once again on Saturday 5 April (8:30pm) with great success.
Two more shows took place this time in Germany: the first at Japanisches Kulturinstitut in Köln (The Japanese Cultural Institute in Cologne) on 6 June 2014 (7:00pm) and the second one at Japanese-German Center in Berlin on 21 June 2014 (7:00pm).
There’s a new upcoming live collaboration this year: Leonard Eto bringing his 'Blendrums' together with Budgie (drums) first at Takutaku in Kyoto (Wed. 20 May 2015, 19:00) with guest Steve Eto (heavy metal percussion) and then at SuperDeluxe in Nishi-Azabu/Tokyo (Sat. 23 May 2015, 19:30) with guest Ayako Ukawa (tap).
This video is a tiny excerpt of 'Blendrums' premiere on 4 April 2014 in Paris, France.
