Music maestros glam up the 'Royal Stag Mirchi Music Awards'

Royal Stag Mirchi Music Awards are conducted to honour the artistic excellence of the musicians from our Bollywood music industry. The event witnessed a star studded affair at the YashRaj Studios in Andheri, Mumbai. The awards initiated by the Radio Mirchi are very special, since the winners here, are selected by the music fraternity itself.

Javed Akhtar, who is a lyricist as well as a screenwriter, received the lifetime achievement award for his 40 years long career, which began with his first hit 'Zanjeer' with Salim Khan. The soothing romantic song 'Zahe Naseeb', from the movie 'Hasee Toh Phasee', was awarded as the song of the year. Nooran Sisters, Jyoti and Sultana, together won best female vocalist for 'Pata kha Guddi' from the movie 'Highway'. Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer '2 States' won the album of the year award, at the event.

Male vocalist of the year went to Arijit Singh for 'Samjhawan' from the movie Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Veteran percussionist Burjor Lord, brother of legendary musician Kersi Lord, who rose to fame with the song 'Mehbooba Mehbooba', received a special award for phenomenal contribution to film music.

The 7th Royal Stag Mirchi Music Awards will be telecast on Zee TV at 8.30pm on March 22.
