A day before the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Malcolm X, the activist’s daughter joined actors and politicians in publically acknowledging his legacy.
Originally known for his hardline views as a member of the black separatism movement, the controversial Muslim leader later moderated his message, becoming an advocate of black unity.
X was gunned down during a talk in a Harlem ballroom, which has since been transformed into The Malcolm X and Dr Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Centre.
