TV9 News: CM Siddaramaiah Renews Licenses of Tainted Mining Companies Triggers Doubts.....,

Bengaluru : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Opposition Leader in the Council K S Eshwarappa were caught in war of words on Friday, February 13, on the issue of renewal of license to tainted mining companies.

Eshwarappa accused the CM of causing huge loss to exchequer by renewing the mining license.

Rejecting the claims made by the CM that the licenses were renewed in order to increase steel production in the state, Eshwarappa said all the leaders received kickbacks of over Rs 2,500 crore and that is the reason the mining licenses were renewed of those companies despite the fact that they are facing CBI inquiry. This scam is much bigger than the Arkavathy layout scam.

In his response the CM said that the licenses were renewed according to the provisions of the Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation (MMDR) Act and no norms were violated.

"The renewal was done to protect the steel industries which have been facing shortage of raw materials,” the CM maintained.
