A Florida detention deputy was recently terminated after an incident from last year which involved excessive force on an inmate.

On the first of October, the 47-year-old deputy, Raymond Ferrio walked into the prisoner's housing unit at Pinellas County Jail. The inmate declined to attend a sick call and the deputy arrived to take him to the appointment.

The prisoner, who was in a wheelchair, firmly positioned his feet on the floor which prevented the deputy from being able to push the chair forward. Via a news release, the department explained what happened next, noting the deputy "then wrapped his arm around the inmate's neck, pulling him from the wheelchair and dumping him onto the floor, shattering his dentures."
