A toddler is one of the victims who consumed the potentially contaminated beer on Saturday. Paula Bernardo, Northeast Tete province’s Health, Women and Social Welfare Director, confirmed that nearly 200 individuals were hospitalized not long after drinking the beer.
In a quote to Radio Mozambique, Bernardo explained “People flocked to the hospital, suffering from diarrhea and muscle pain. Then bodies from various neighborhoods were brought to the hospital, and this alerted us.”
