On January 5, off-duty police officer Darryl Jouett accidentally shot himself with a police-issued .40 caliber semiautomatic handgun causing non-life-threatening injuries. While seemingly trying to holster the weapon, the gun fired and a bullet ricocheted off of the door hitting Jouett in the stomach.
