Heaven help me, I think I actually remember this performance. Unless I'm mistaken, it was from a 1967 TV special entitled "The Steve Paul Scene," about the emerging subculture of progressive rock. It was hosted by Paul, who owned a rock club in New York called The Scene. That's his voiceover introducing Moby Grape.
Sad story, theirs, especially the mental illness and untimely death of Skip Spence. But for their many personal demons, Moby Grape could have lasted much longer and been one of the great rock band of all time. They are anyway, in my opinion.
