The MQM Coordination Committee strongly condemned the arbitrary arrest and disappearance of member of Fact Finding Committee (FFC) and former Sector In-charge Rehan Akram by Sindh Rangers.
In a statement, the Committee said that Rehan Akram son of Mirza Ekram was arrested by Rangers personnel, when he was busy with routine work at his laboratory (MMS) near Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. It said that his family was in extreme anxiety and fear for his disappearance after his illegal and arbitrary arrest. The family also expressed its fear for him being murdered in extra-judicial killing.
It said that more than 24 MQM workers, including Kamran Shah son of Rafi Ahmed of Surjani Town, Rehan Qureshi son of Khalil Qureshi of Surjani Town, Sajid son of Abdus Sattar of Lyari, and Suhail son of Ahmed Usmani of Society, were arrested in the last week. It demanded to declare their arrest officially and if they were involved in any crime, should be brought to the court and let the court decide their fates.
The Coordination Committee said that everyone knew that the criminals, terrorists of banned outfits and members of Lyari gang-war were living in Lyari, Chanesar Goth, Kati Pahari, Kanwari Colony, Banaras, Landhi and Malir. It said that no action against those criminals yet to be taken rather arresting MQM innocent workers by Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs).
It demanded the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take immediate action and manage to release the innocent workers, especially member Fact Finding Committee Rehan Akram.
