In the United States, the House of Representatives has voted in favour of a 2015 spending bill.

It narrowly passed the more than 1 trillion US dollar package late on Thursday with 219 voting in favour and 206 against.

The vote came just hours before government spending was due to run out.

The legislation will fund the Department of Homeland Security until February and must still be passed by the Senate before it can be sent to the president to sign into law.
