Unasur moves towards creation of South American passport

At a summit in Ecuador, the General Secretary of the Union of South American Countries (Unasur), Ernesto Samper, announced that the group had moved closer towards the creation of a South American passport. The document would permit South American citizens not only to travel between countries, but also to stay, to work, to study, and to receive public services in other nations.
