The founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), Mr. Altaf Hussain has demanded to give the right to the Pakistani expatriates to vote and participate in general elections.
Talking to the intellectuals, professors, lawyers, doctors, engineers, religious scholars, traders, businessmen and others, including MQM workers and supporters in a Haleem Fiesta to celebrate the formal announcement of the formation of Hyderabad University, MQM Chief said that former Sindh Education Minister prejudicially opposed the formation of said university.
Mr. Hussain said that even after various appeals to the higher authorities, including Prime Minister and Chief Justices of Supreme and High Courts, no one took suo motu actions against such a discriminating gesture. He said that if such chauvinist statement was made in outer world, would be punished hard.
He wondered that emergency imposed on 12th October 1999 was legal or tolerable, while emergency imposed on 03rd November 2007 was condemnable. He said that former Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry charged former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf high treason, instead of accusing all the accomplices.
Mr. Hussain especially thanked to Chief Executive Beharia Town Malik Riaz, Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah for granting 50 acres land for the proposed university.
