Religious leaders vow to eradicate modern-day slavery

Global faith leaders gathered at the Vatican Tuesday in a bid to end modern-day slavery.
Led by Pope Francis, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish and Muslim leaders committed themselves to ridding the world of human trafficking.

"We are gathered here for an historic initiative of concrete action. We declare that we will work to eradicate the terrible scourge of modern slavery in all its forms. The physical, economic, sexual and psychological exploitation of men, women and children is chaining tens of millions of persons to inhumanity and humiliation."
The Australian-based Walk Free Foundation, estimates that almost 36 million people around the world are living as slaves, trafficked into brothels or forced into manual labor. Many are victims of debt bondage or born into servitude.
