Scuffles erupted in Hong Kong overnight as protesters occupied a new street in the Mong Kok district hours after police cleared part of a pro-democracy protest camp elsewhere in the bustling district on Tuesday (November 25).
Police tried to push back protesters as they swarmed onto Portland street, holding up banners warning them not to charge or they would use force.
The gritty, working-class area across the harbour from the main protest site at Admiralty has been the scene of some of the most violent clashes during two months of pro-democracy demonstrations in the Chinese-ruled city.
