Children found to be particularly susceptible to illness could be suffering from a genetic - and potentially fatal - immune disorder.
This year's prestigious Robert Koch Prize has been awarded to two scientists for their work uncovering the genetics underpinning diseases of the immune system, and for their contribution towards developments in gene therapy. Scientists at Hanover Medical School are building on their research to minimize the once dangerous side effects of gene therapy.
