"Selma" cast call film evocative of Ferguson protests

English actor David Oyelowo and the cast of "Selma" reflected on the contemporary significance of the civil rights movement at the film's world premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday (November 11) evening. "Selma" follows civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (played by Oyelowo) over a period of three months in 1965 as he leads a march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, to the secure equal voting rights for African-Americans in the United States. The march in Alabama is credited with the passing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The film also stars Lorraine Toussaint, Common and Oprah Winfrey; Winfrey is also one of the films' producers.
