Caleb's Kola: Hipster Craft Kustom Cola... From Pepsi?!? - Food Feeder

If you’re one of those people for whom “Craft Beer” isn’t hipster-ish enough, good news! Now you can get Craft Soda too! From the people who brought you… Pepsi. Which is pretty much the opposite of whatever “craft” means!

So, the market research team at Pepsi told the bosses that high fructose corn syrup and “industrial” food is trending down among “those that think young” so they’ve decided to unveil an entirely new brand called Caleb’s Kola. Heck, it’s not just a new brand, it’s a whole new kind of drink, encouraging people to claim they “Liked Kola when it was still a misspelling.”

Okay, according to the website, the stuff is called Caleb’s Kola because Pepsi was originally developed by a drugstore owner named Caleb, and the flavors come from kola nuts. But really, the whole Kola-with-a-K thing strikes us more as a ploy to distinguish themselves from the Kompetition. What doesn’t distinguish Caleb’s is the fact that it’s still loaded with added sugars. So… not actually healthy, FYI.

Right now, Caleb’s Kola is only available in Costco stores on the East Coast (East Koast?). But that could change at any minute, so if you want to see Noah subject us all to a “Craft soda” vs. “normal soda” taste test, hit the thumbs upl.

Do you like drinking “Craft” or “artisinal” sodas? Do you hope to one day develop artisanal diabetes? Do you think Pepsi is smart to add this new product to its lineup? What’s your favorite unusual soda? Have you tried Caleb’s Kola? How do you think it stacks up against more standard sodas?
