Arrests during anti-capitalist march in London
  • 9 years ago
There were clashes and arrests in central London as anti-capitalist activists took part in the Million Mask March.

Over one thousand people descended on the capital as part of a global event organised by the internet activist group Anonymous.

“We don’t want leadership, we don’t want leaders, there’s enough people for real democracy and Anonymous is about not having one person in control, about everybody, anonymously having the power for everyone,” explained one protester.

At least ten people were arrested during confrontations with police.

Many of the protesters wore Guy Fawkes masks – the symbol of Anonymous.

November 5 in the UK is Bonfire or Guy Fawkes Night when the country marks the attempt to blow up parliament in the early 17th century.
