Israeli Company Creates Solar Trees

These solar powered "trees" will be put in public areas and enable people to charge their phones and connect to WiFi.

These days, forgetting your phone or laptop charger at home can become an ordeal.

Israel-based company Sologic has created a way to fix that problem.

They've designed a structure that resembles a tree and runs solely on solar power collected from panels resting on its branches.

It's aptly called the eTree, and Sologic hopes it will become a part of parks and other public areas around the globe.

The company calls it an "ecological sculpture" that they believe will blend in with its surroundings.

The tree has USB outlets so a passerby could charge their phones or other devices for free, or connect to WiFi, while resting underneath the shade it provides.

It also features a water fountain for both people and pets, and at night LED lights on the tree provide illumination for pathways.

The first tree was unveiled in a nature reserve in Israel.
