New Jersey governor Chris Christie recently got into a war of words with a critic who questioned the state’s handling of Hurricane Sandy rebuilding efforts.

At the time, Christie was addressing a crowd in Belmar, an area hard-hit by the storm.

Throughout the speech, the governor was interrupted by former Asbury Park councilman and recovery activist Jim Keady.

At one point Christie told him to “sit down and shut up,” but that suggestion was just one small portion of the words exchanged by the two.

Keady has long been vocal with his feelings about how the money designated for the recovery has been spent and the pace at which the work is happening.

It’s been pointed out by him and many others that while boardwalks, businesses, and select houses have been restored, far too many individuals are still without homes.

At the Belmar event, Keady held up a sign that read, ‘Finish the job’ while yelling ‘Do your job’.

He got the governor’s attention, but perhaps not in the way he was expecting.

Christy called him out at length for his history of talking rather than rolling up his sleeves and working. He also accused Keady of only being around when the cameras are rolling.
