Gladiator type vinette package for Simmons takes us to JR and Jesse reflecting on that storied night in Baltimore. JR delivers a M Cole like plastic smile as they go to break. They welcome us back to the Clash though a 'Saturday Night' neon sign is hung from the arena. If times were bad in the company's pocketbook I think putting the belt on a black champ was a good media move. Cactus was the ideal first major opponent for Simmons - the jobber to the superstars still accorded respect due to the bumps he'd take and the novel character he had developed. The match is, of course, a brawl that never gets too rough though Ron proves he'll he'd get as down and dirty as Foley - at least in this contest. Referee Ole Anderson's count is undramatic - his arm barely moving in any fashion - not to mention lacking the flamboyance of the best - Hebner, etc. 1 1/2 star match - their chemistry wasn't hot - Foley almost broke his neck during the backdrop sequence.
