Poppy Snow - Poppy Hoppy Monoskiers! & Pond Jumping Snowboarding! & Freestyle & Mono Skiing! & Ouch! Heaven on Snow!
>> Part 1- Poppy Hoppy Monoskiers!
This Snow Pop video work is rough and nostalgic created in 1993 when snowboarding was prohibited almost of ski area in Japan. We were Monoski freaks but we could not enjoy it much. Because Monoski structure was just made as double-enlarged ski at that time, so which was too stiff and too heavy that we could never experience the joy. And more, it was really hard for us to find the monoskiing area the same as snowboarders.
We thought it over... why don't we remodel snowboard-type Monoski?!
We, Snow Pop team created this Poppy Snow video with full of fun which could be more popular and get more freaks, we believed. The videographer; Kunio bought a video camera for amateur just before the race, took only few minutes test in a park near and went into Pond Jumping Performance Race.
The 1st commemorative? MICROMEDIA Video was born like this, clap clap clap!!!
This video is digitized of master's 1st copy instead of crumbled master tape. We exactly did such analogue editing work that was really unbelievable now!
We hope you'll enjoy watching the taste of amateur analogue jaggy as well. About these cool sounds, we want to express so great thanks to the Harajuku Hokoten Bands; Be-Brothers and Bonkura, and free solo of Natural High. The narrator is Iris, she is pretty half American and half Japanese. More, we deeply thank to many of the great cooperators including very open-minded monoskiers there.

They are Monoski & Fugeru (Mini-ski) freaks in Tenjindaira, Japan. The top-big wide black monoski is UNI-SKI from Boston, America. The person in charge of develop and manufacturing is Chip, he is a surfer, too. UNI-SKI is strongly bounced just like a rodeos and one tester was jumped over and dislocated her left shoulder completely. Japanese Monoski company made Transonic later which was similar shape of UNI-SKI.

This crazy entertainment is the 1st Pond Jumping Performance Race in Asagai, the date was April 4th, 1993, in Japan. The entry was around 300 snowboarders but over half guys withdrew after seeing the big pond, the sliding distance was about 10m far.
>> Part 3 - Freestyle & Mono Skiing!
They are Gunma Pref. Freestyle Team "Four Wings" in Tenjindaira, and Snow Pop Monoski Testing Team in Marunuma Kogen, Japan.
You can see our Snow Pop test boards; Mini Monoski and the black-sole long Monoski.
We put the cracked stainless edge our tester; Kadoi kindly made back on the original Mini Monoski which was a no-edge snowboard for kids. The black-sole long test board was the latest model for speed-racing with monocoque and symmetry. We put carbon fiber crossly on tail and duralumin under binding to strengthen them.

第１部 モノスキー・フリークス！
まだスノボが禁止されているスキー場が大半だった古き悪しき昔の懐かしビデオです。ぼくらはモノスキーフリークでした。でも、スキーをそのまま横に拡大したモノスキーは硬く、重く、皆が楽しめるスキーではありませんでした。おまけに、スノボと同じで、滑れるスキー場が少なかったのです。いっそのこと、スノボタイプのモノスキーを開発したらどうだろうか。みんなで楽しく滑れば仲間も増えるだろうと、楽しさをビデオにして発信しようと Snow Pop は Poppy Snow を作りました。スノボの池越え大会の直前にアマチュア用のビデオカメラを購入し、公園で数分のテスト撮りだけで、池越え大会に臨みました。記念すべき？マイクロメディアの初ビデオはこうして誕生しました、パチパチパチ。このビデオはポロポロになったマスターテープの代わりに、マスターの初コピーから起こしてデジタル化しました。あの大変だったアナログの編集作業がウソのようです。アマチュアアナログヨレヨレビデオの味わいも楽しんでいただけたらと思います。サウンドは原宿ホコ天バンド Be-Brothers と Bonkura、フリーソロの Natural High の多大な協力の賜物です。ナレーションはハーフのアイリス、そして飛入りのモノスキーヤーを始め、多くの方々にご協力いただきました。このビデオには出てこない３枚目のテストボードでお会いしましょう！
天神平の高倉山コースと天神峠正面コースに、モノスキーとフィーゲルのフリークが集まりました。トップの大きい黒い幅広いモノスキーはアメリカのユニスキーです。開発者・制作者のチップぱサーファーでもあります。非常にバネの強い板で、テスターが一人飛ばされて肩を脱臼しました。日本のトランソニック社の後発のモノスキーは、ユニスキーに似たシェイプでした。
第２部 スノボード池越え大会！
日本で最初のスノボード池越え大会が、1993年4月4日に苗場の浅貝スキー場で行われました。仮装パフォーマンスとジャンプと池越えの祭典です。当初のエントリーは300名程でしたが、ゲレンデに造られた池を見て、半数以上が棄権しました。
第３部 フリースタイル＆モノスキー！
天神平でのフリスタイルチーム "Four Wings" と、丸沼高原での Snow Pop モノスキーテスト滑走です。
ミニモノスキーとソールの黒い長めのモノスキーが Snow Pop テストボードです。
ミニモノスキーはエッジ無しの子供用スノボのソールをカットし、テストライダー Kadoi が作ったステンレスのエッジにクラックを入れてセットしました。長いテストボードは当時最新のモノコック構造・左右対称形のスピード系競技用ボードです。カーボンファイバーをクロスに使いテール部分を強化し、ビンディング取付け部はジュラルミンを貼って強化しました。
