Controversy in Genoa after floods that left one man dead

There is controversy in the Italian city of Genoa after flooding that left one man dead and millions of euros worth of damage.

It has been revealed that after similar flooding that claimed six lives in 2011, 35 million euros was set aside for the construction of special barriers.

But that work never started, causing anger among those who have been hit again by raging floodwaters.

There have also been landslides, causing the derailment of a train travelling from Genoa to Turin.

The driver was hurt but all of the 150 passengers were reported to have escaped without any serious injuries.

Officials have also been criticised for not giving enough warning about the bad weather.
