Big Brother is Watching You(r Trash) - Food Feeder

If you live in Seattle, good news! (For the environment) - Soon, you’ll be able to receive a citation and fine for throwing out your trash incorrectly! That’s right, you’ve been doing trash wrong!

The city ordinance, which will go into effect next January, actually comes from a good place: we have a pretty astounding amount of food waste here in the U.S. of A., and up in Seattle, the City makes it pretty darn easy to compost those unwanted leftovers. But, if you’re too lazy, or too much of a jerk to take advantage of the local composting options, Seattle law enforcement will be picking through your trash, and judging you for the amount of food you’re wasting. Sounds like an all-around win, right?

Do you live in Seattle? What do you think about the government sticking its nose into your trash? Do you take advantage of the city’s composting services already? Have you taken any steps to reduce your food waste? Or do you throw away whole turkeys with abandon, laughing all the way to the curb?
