Hong Kong unrest hits retailers

Hong Kong’s pro-democracy protesters have forced the closure of dozen of high street stores.
It comes as China begins a week-long holiday, known as Golden Week, a period in which thousands of tourists ferry in from the mainland for a getaway that’s widely seen as retail therapy.
According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the average overnight visitor spends around 500 euros during his or her stay.
Hong Kong’s retail sector relies heavily on mainland Chinese visitors, who contributed around one-third of the city’s retail sales in 2013, according to Credit Suisse.
