At least 35 people are dead in Shit'ite areas of Baghdad after a wave of attacks Tuesday.

Residents in the al-Hurriya neighbourhood surveyed damages after two car bombs killed 20 people and wounded at least 35 others.

It was one of the most violent days the capital has witnessed since the U.S. began its campaign of air strikes against Islamic State insurgents last month.

In southeastern Baghdad more car bombs- more deaths.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks but the ultra-radical Sunni Muslim Islamic State militants claimed several bombings in Baghdad earlier this year.
