UN says 40,000 migrants killed in 14 years

According to the United Nations at least 40,000 migrants fleeing from war, poverty, and persecution have been killed since the year 2000. The situation has become particularly bad for Africans crossing the Mediterranean on overcrowded vessels and at the Mexican border, where migrants are at the mercy of gangs and drug cartels.
