Amateur video shows the frantic scene near Washington's Ethiopian Embassy Monday.

Secret Service detained a man after shots were reported around noon.

A protest was reportedly taking place at the time. And many people witnessed the incident.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) TESFA SIMAGNE, PROTESTER, SAYING:

"About half a block from the embassy, I heard at least four shots, and I thought there were people killed."

No injuries were immediately reported.

And authorities are investigating the incident.
