Edinburgh International Festival's backstage opportunity is a collaboration between EIF and Edinburgh Napier University where students from the Television Production and Journalist courses work together to produce content for the festival's backstage website:

http://www.eif.co.uk/festivalbackstage/

Content is filmed by television soon to be graduates where also journalists carry out interviews with some of the best international performers attending the festival in addition to Festival Directors and key partners. The journalist and television students then work together to edit together the content and assist with transcoding the material and upload it to the web.

The backstage opportunity is sponsored by Standard Life who have spent the last 15 years associating themselve's with the project. The website offers behind the scenes material and a handful of unique interviews with actors, dancers, directors and musicians, designers, technicians and make-up artists.

The Deborah Colker dance company was founded by none other than Deborah Colker herself, born in 1960 in Rio de Janeiro. She is a Brazilian writer, theater director, dancer and choreographer. She received the Lawrence Oliver Award for outstanding achievement in dance in 2001 for the choreography work she did on the show 'Mix'. In 2009, she wrote, directed and choreographed the Cirque de Soleil production, 'Ovo'.

During the workshops in Edinburgh schools, excerpts of the show 'Tatyana' were performed. Tatyana performed at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2012 and features a soundtrack featuring music by Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and Kraftwerk.
