"I've been waiting for this day, the day of destiny"- Scottish 'Yes' voter

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION).

STORY: "Yes" voters in Edinburgh were being piped to the polling stations on Thursday as Scots voted in a referendum to choose whether to end the 307-year-old union with England and become an independent nation or stay within the United Kingdom.

Campaigners from both sides have been fighting hard to win votes over the past few weeks, as people across the country have been divided on the poll, which is being watched closely by Britain's allies, investors and restive regions at home and abroad.

But on one Edinburgh estate, "Yes" campaigners were pushing until the last minute to make sure that everyone who had registered to vote went to the trouble of putting their ballot sheet in the box.

At least 100 people marched through the Craigmillar estate in the south of the Scottish capital, headed up by a bagpiper who played traditional Scottish music, in an attempt to remind people to cast their ballots.
