A classic Jaguar car that was reported stolen 46 years ago has finally been recovered by United States Customs Border Protection officers.

While working alongside an agent from the National Insurance Crime Bureau, and an investigator with the California Highway Patrol-Investigative Services Unit, authorities seized five cars at the Los Angeles/Long Beach seaport complex.

The missing Jag was discovered in a shipping container that was supposed to be bound for the Netherlands.

Back in 1968, the Jaguar was stolen from the owner’s residence in New York, after being driven for only six months.

At that time, the Jaguar sports car was worth around five thousand dollars.

Although the exterior has been repainted and remains in good condition, the interior has seen some wear and tear over the years.

According to US Customs estimates, in its current condition the white 1967 XKE convertible is worth around 23 thousand dollars.

The owner says the car will be shipped to New York for repairs, which are expected to cost around a hundred thousand dollars.
