It’s unclear how far along she is, but most people think she’s still in the first trimester. Kensington Palace has confirmed that Prince George will soon have a sibling to play with.
The official statement read in part “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child.”
It also noted that the Queen and members of both families are thrilled with the news. Palace officials say that Kate is suffering from acute morning sickness and receiving treatment from doctors at Kensington Palace.
The condition is something she also experienced while pregnant with George. Due to the sickness, all of her upcoming engagements will be reviewed to determine is she’s healthy enough to attend.
She has a two-day visit to Malta scheduled for this month but it’s unknown if she’ll be able to go. Despite the uncertainties, everyone seems to be delighted about the news.
The announcement of the pregnancy comes less than two months after George’s first birthday. The new baby will be fourth in line to the throne.
