Joan Rivers to be laid to rest in private funeral on Sunday

Martin Fletcher, a long time friend says Melissa is coping with the loss as best she can.

"She is doing amazingly well. She is a mother's daughter and she is rising to the occasion."

A private funeral will be held for Rivers at Temple Emanu-El, a landmark synagogue on New York's Fifth Avenue where the 81-year-old was a member.

A memorial outside her home keeps growing as fans leave flowers and cards in an outpouring of support.

Rivers died on Thursday, a week after she went into cardiac arrest during an outpatient procedure at this clinic.

The New York City Medical Examiner is investigating her death.
