Woman Texting And Driving Gets Pierced By Guardrail Pole

A Colorado woman recently learned how dangerous it really is to text and drive. Christina Jahnz was driving away from her daughter's school when she began texting a friend and almost immediately, she crashed into a guardrail pole.

A Colorado woman recently learned how dangerous it really is to text and drive. On Wednesday morning, Christina Jahnz drove to her daughter’s middle school in Elizabeth to drop off a saxophone.

As she was pulling out away from the building, she grabbed her phone and began texting a friend. Almost immediately, she crashed into a guardrail pole.

Jahnz explained “I was running late for a business meeting, so I did a voice text. I looked down to make sure it was all right. The next thing I knew.. there was white powder from the air bags deployed."

Jahnz soon realized she didn’t just strike the pole. It actually went into the front of her truck and through her buttocks. The pole even pierced the back of her seat.

Firefighters were forced to saw the front and back ends of the pole to get her out of the vehicle. Jahnz was quickly transported to the hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.

She stayed in the hospital for four days. While she heals, Jahnz will be getting around with a walker. Doctors believe she will go on to make a full recovery.

Now Jahnz is sharing her story and warning others not to text and drive.
