The British couple who sparked an international manhunt by taking their seriously ill son out of hospital have been remanded in custody by a court in Madrid.

The parents of five-year-old Ashya King, who said they were seeking alternative treatment for his brain tumour, are fighting efforts to extradite them from Spain to the UK.

Brett and Naghemeh King have been remanded in custody for a maximum of 72 hours, pending a second hearing.
