Three senior American congressmen have urged the US administration to supply weapons to Ukrainians in their fight against pro-Russian militias.
The head of Senate Foreign Relations Committee described the situation in eastern Ukraine as a direct invasion by Russia. Robert Menendez said a large cost must be imposed on Russian President Vladimir Putin for Quote further aggression. On the same note, republican senator John McCain called for more support for Ukraine and stronger sanctions against Putin. McCain also accused the Russian leader of trying to establish a land bridge to Crimea. Meanwhile, New York representative Peter King warned that Russia must be dealt with before it advances toward the Baltic. Russia has time and again dismissed Western claims that its forces crossed into east Ukraine to support militias there.
