Residents of Ferguson march for justice three weeks after fatal police shooting of Michael Brown

Three weeks after the killing of black teenager Michael Brown by a white police officer, the residents of Ferguson in Missouri have taken to the streets calling for justice.
The fatal shooting of the 18 year old drew global attention to the state of race relations in the US.
Organisers said the march was held to protest against the national problem of police brutality and killings, racial profiling and cover-ups by the authorities. They are also angry that no action seems to have been taken against Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot Brown. Wilson has been put on paid leave and is in hiding.
One protester said: “people are beyond angry and we’re frustrated. We feel like three weeks later there’s been no actionable words. We don’t have an arrest. We don’t even know why that officer hasn’t been indicted.”
On Friday, the U.N. racism watchdog urged the United States to halt the excessive use of force by police. The committee said that “racial and ethnic discrimination remains a serious and persistent problem in all areas of life in the US”
