Foreign-backed insurgents in Syria have attacked Filipino troops in the Golan Heights. Philippine Defense Minister said the troops at one UN encampment were attacked, but those at another were QUOTE extricated. According to the military, there are 40 Filipino troops in the encampment that came under attack and 35 in the second. The soldiers refused to surrender to militants including some linked to the Al-Qaeda-affiliate Al-Nusra Front. They've have been under siege since Wednesday. Meanwhile, militants have also abducted 44 UN troops from Fiji.
