Miley Cyrus' date at the MTV VMAs recently turned himself in to an Oregon jail. On Thursday night, the 22-year-old former homeless man, Jesse Helt arrived at Polk County Community Corrections in Dallas.

He was booked at roughly 8:30 P.M. ‘on an outstanding warrant for probation violation.’ According to Sheriff Bob Wolfe, bail was set at $25,000 and Helt was allowed to post 10 percent of it.

He has since posted $2,500 in bail and is out of jail. For those who missed it, Helt accepted an award for Cyrus at the VMAs and once on stage he gave a speech about homeless youth and revealed he too had lived on the streets.

Since his appearance, the media uncovered he had a warrant out for his arrest. He was taken into custody in late 2010 for ‘burglary, criminal mischief and criminal trespass charges’.

His mother, Linda confirmed Cyrus sent him money to return home after the MTV show. Oregon police showed up at his mom’s door.

He wasn’t there at the time, but later turned himself in. It’s unclear where he stayed after leaving his mother’s residence.
