Due to what the Pentagon called “an anomaly”, the test of a hypersonic weapon was terminated near its launch pad in Kodiak, Alaska, on August 25. The Washington Post cited Pentagon officials who said “the weapon and the rockets propelling it exploded about four seconds after lifting off”.The missile being developed by the US Army, called the Advanced Hypersonic Weapon, is intended to have the capability to strike any target on earth within hours of launching.
